Since at least 1952
Who We Are
Hunters, anglers and others interested in fish and wildlife conservation in the Stony Plain area (and beyond) have been organized as the Stony Plain Fish and Game Association since at least 1952, as far back as our records (a 1952 membership card) take us; but old timers tell us the club was started well before 1952.
The club has been very active over the years, helping conserve fish and wildlife and its habitat, keeping members informed of issues and programs, and informing the general public about the value of their fish and wildlife resources.
Firearms enthusiasts in the Stony Plain and Wabamun Lake area organized the Wabamun Gun Club in 1959-60. A gun range was established and maintained by the club to practice safe gun handling. Because many members of the Stony Plain Fish and Game Club also belonged to the Wabamun Gun Club, and vice versa, the two clubs combined in 1998.
